"Truth"! You couldn’t name this project any more accurately. On the one hand it avows itself to the traditional roots of Al Green and James Brown, and could even be understood as an homage to the legendary Booker T. & the M.G.’s – while on the other hand, these sounds from past decades are transformed by a stroke of genius into a musical experience for our millennium.
Gero Körner has been a highly regarded, genre-crossing pianist and keyboard player in both the studio and on stage since his early childhood. On his solo debut "Truth", his playing focuses on one of his favorite instruments, the Hammond organ. In the album’s instrumentals, he elicits sounds from the entire Soul landscape, from loungy club sounds and latin grooves to classic up-tempo Boogaloo.
Soleil Niklasson really celebrates the sound of the six songs which she co-composed on "Truth" with her haunting soul voice. A native of Chicago, the singer and composer lives her truth through the substance of her texts - Soleil Niklasson speaks of love, a better world and social dedication.
